February 2009 Meeting Minutes and Update

The Elgin Arts Association meeting was held February 21, 2009. We appreciate everyone's attendance.

This was our first alternate-month mini-workshop. Participants learned the techniques involved in sculpting a female head using polymer clay. The workshop was a huge success and a great time was had by all.

Please welcome our two new members from Smithville.

Jo Watts, ClaySmith Jo’s website is at www.artistsnaction.com. Sam Martin, of Ladybug Glass, check out her site at www.ladybugglass.com. So, WELCOME, Jo! WELCOME, Sam! Smithville just got a lot closer! Both Jo and Sam are active in the Lost Pines Artisans Alliance (LPAA). Their website is www.lostpinesartisansalliance.org.

EAA hopes to partner with LPAA on some future events. LPAA has their general membership meetings on the Third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm and they would welcome each of us!

Also, please welcome our newest member, Ruth Hyatt of Design Access. Ruth has hosted the "Meet the Artist" day in her Austin store location. Works from many Elgin artists can be found in her beautiful location that caters to the Interior Design Industry. On Tuesdays you will usually find an Elgin artist as well! Welcome, Ruth!

Please be sure to attend the next EAA general membership meeting at 7:00 pm on March 19 at the Elgin Public Library Community Room. It will be a POTLUCK so bring some food and fun to share. Everyone is welcome!

See you there!
