EAA Scholarship Application Process

To: Home School Students

From: Elgin Arts Association

My purpose in writing this is to let you know both about the Scholarship Application process and the possibility of participating in the next Pearls Art Show.

Elgin Arts Association is pleased host the Pearls Before Swine Art Show and Silent Auction. The event is held the Thursday prior to Hogeye weekend.

The show’s main purpose is to showcase some of the finest works of art in our area. The 2010 show was a huge success partly thanks to the addition of youth participation in the show.

The silent auction, with items generously donated by area merchants and artists, generated funds for scholarships for Elgin area students wishing to continue their education in the arts.

Scholarship Program: Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who wish to continue their education in the arts.

Applicants will be considered who attend either of the High Schools in Elgin or home school students who live within a 15 mile radius of Elgin.

The Scholarship application is attached for your convenience. The application deadline is Friday April 1st, 2011.

Pearls Before Swine Art Show: Last year was the first time that there was a youth component to the show. We were totally amazed at the quality of work being done by our youth and were so pleased to be able to help it be shown.

There is no entry fee for youth. The show this year will be on October 20th. I mention this so early so that students can work toward completing work for the show. The application for the show can be found at the city of Elgin’s website: http://www.elgintx.com/hogeye.asp or EAA’s website http://www.elginartsassociation.com/pearls/pearls.htm.
