What is it?
Every year for the past 20 some odd years there has been a Pearl Before Swine Art Show. It happens the Thursday before Hogeye weekend. (Thus the name...) In 2009 Elgin Arts Association became the host for this annual community event.
Pearls Before Swine Art Show is a juried show that bring together the finest artwork being done in our geographic area. There are awards for both two and three dimensional work.
In 2010 Elgin Arts Association added a youth section to the show. Instead of cash awards the winning students received art supplies for prizes. Our youth are doing amazing things! Because the youth show was so hugely successful we fully intend to continue in this direction!
At the reception the community has the opportunity to meet and visit with the artists whose work has been selected from a panel of judges for this show. They enjoy some refreshments and a nibble of cheese and the experience of appreciating art with neighbors.
The Silent Auction is held in conjunction with the art show reception on Thursday evening. Area businesses, artists and individuals donate items to be auctioned off and is coordinated entirely by volunteers. All Silent Auction proceeds are used to fund scholarships for Elgin area students wishing to continue their education in art.
For more information or to make a donation to the scholarship fund please contact Sarah Page.
We appreciate Elgin's generous support of this local event!
